Customer Relationship Management Limitations

The "M" in CRM stands for management, not solution. While a CRM can do a lot of positive things for your small business, some of it automatically, it won't actually fix problems. You have to have a solid plan for your CRM and you have to execute that plan, but you still need to treat the customers well in the first place, ensure that you provide great products and/or service, and stay relevant to what they need or want.

  • A CRM can't fix your employee being rude to your customer.
  • It can't fix the wrong product being delivered to your customer.
  • It won't delete bad reviews from your social media sites.
  • Your CRM can't hire (or fire) your next employee. 

But it can, indeed, help you manage all of those items. Customer relationship management software won't replace you running your business, but can certainly make it easier and faster for you to do. Overall, CRM is important to small businesses because it can help them to better understand and engage with their customers, increase efficiency, and ultimately, grow their business.
